In the end, it don't matter how large you make your shop, your collection of tools seems to always fill it up, making it too small. ;D

Thanks for the kind comments, guys.
I grumble about the shop size because it woulod have been very easy and hardly any more expensive to build it bigger. It's a long story but I wish now that I had gone with a 36' x 24' slab. the extra 240 sf would have come in really handy, even though, as you say, they are never big enough.
I think that when I get the shed addition built on the back and move some stuff out there...like the DC and air compressor, it will not only make it a bit roomier but a lot quieter, too.l

Hey, how about a Gilley's size shop. That club still around out there in Texas. What was the big one if Ft. Worth. Now those are true to heart shop size buildings.

Gilley's in Pasadena (Houston suburb) burned down several years ago. It was pretty much a dump, even in the "Urban Cowboy" days. Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth is still going strong. If you are ever in the DFW area, it's worth going to the Ft. Worth stockyards if you like a brewsky and a good time. That's where Billy Bob's is located. That whole area is nothing but shops, saloons and honky tonks. There's still some of the original stockyard pens left, too if you're interested.

Cody, nice shop! It doesn't look like there is much infeed/outfeed space to your planer according to the sketch. But in the pic it looks like there is space. Is the sketch decieving or do you pull the plainer out to use it?
I wish my shop would stay that clean.
And, I am getting better ideas to organize my shop after seeing y'alls. Now to decide to reorganize or move.........

Thanks BR.
I pull the planer out when it's in use. It's got a built-in 3-wheel base and it's really easy to move around. With it pulled away from the wall, I can run 8 ft. stock through it easily.
My shop is not clean, either. I swept up the majority of the sawdust before I left for offshore two weeks ago and put up all my tools but it still needs a major cleaning. I'll get around to that when I finish the rocking chair.
I like to keep it as clean as reasonably possible and I also like to keep my tools and supplies organized. A cluttered, messy shop is not an efficient shop, IMHO or a safe one, either. I try to adhere to the rule of five. Every time I enter the shop during a project build, I try to put up five items back where they are stored. That helps to keep the clutter manageable and it only takes a minute or two.

That's it, Billy Bobs. I lived in between Dallas Ft.Worth for a little bit and that was one place I visited on several occasions. Never went to Gilley's, too far away. Still, I have to say Wow to your shop! Incredible

Wow, Stretch. That's going to be something else when it's finished. What a great space! Lots of nice tools in there already, too. You're going to have to have a "shop warming" when you get it done...or as done as any shop ever gets. Thanks for showing. I'll go pout for a while now over all that room you have.

That's going to be nice when it's done, Mark. Or as Cody said as done as it ever gets. I know you are ready to get it up and going so you can get busy with your new business endeavor. I wish you all the luck.

Nice shop Stretch. I think that's about the size I would like. Then again, I may want it bigger if I had one that size........................

NICE - that's nice enough to make anybody jealous.
I did notice though - no windows?
I bet a couple or 3 roof windows would be real nice too.

The north light is a nice soft light that is good for matching colors when doing custom finishing. I had originally planned on doing sky lights, but after I investigated it I decided against it. It seems that down here if you don't keep your shop heated, you get condensation drips off your skylights unless you shell out for insulated skylights. I didn't want to pay for insulated sky lights so they got axed from the plan.

I'm afraid that in my case, getting as far as you've gotten and actually knocking out a project in there, it could be five or ten years down the road before I got much more completed on the shop. ;D Great job, and I expect an invite to that party, as well.
