Just so's ya don't all think that a nice big well equipped shop - (at least to me) - is something that just happens - I had other not so big and not so well equipped first. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is an old one -- about 1970 - really my Dad's but I did stuff there too. Not really a woodworking shop either. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is about 1986. I had this one in the cellar from 1983-2002 It was all I could afford. I made a lot of stuff in there - nothing great - but lots of stuff. In my cellar - I had a Radial Arm Saw - and on old Walker Turner drill press. That's about is. I also had a cheap jig saw, and a cheap hand drill. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In 2002 at 48 years old. - I re mortgaged my house in order to build the shop I have now. From 2002 - till present, I have working to equip it, build benches, and to learn woodworking. I feel that I am starting to "get it". I am enjoying the process of learning. Just want to make clear -- I did NOT start out with the shop I have now. When we were first married, and in an apartment - I used a sun porch - then an attic space.

I'm thinking about 90% of us have/had one of those old Craftsman radial arm saws.
I still have mine and still use is (for rough cutting).
All I had for years was my RAS and a 1hp craftsman router. Sure made a bunch of stuff with 'em, though. All HSS, no carbide tipped anything.

I'm selling my RAS. Can't remember the last time I used it. OnceI got a cabinet saw, I never used it.

Imageshack has shown some signs of being a little flaky lately but it usually works okay. The problem with your image was you had used the page url: img641.imageshack.us/i/56705242.jpg/rather than the "direct link" which is: img641.imageshack.us/img641/1662/56705242.jpgWe (the staff) would like to encourage everyone to start using the Preview button to ensure your posts are going to come out as you intend them. Nice space ya have - dig that clamp rack! Now I wanna know waht's in those locked cabinets! Curiosity is my specialty

These pictures are a couple years old and taken when the sun was shining and the shop was clean....... The building is 24' X 28' with one entry door and one 16' X 9' overhead door. Heat is in floor radiant - I have a hot water tank in the house basement converted to a boiler for hot water. I also put a half bath in so this old man doesn't have to run to the house for "comfort". I walled off the area by the entry door and half bath for my office. The shop is big enough but I need another one just for storage. It is hard to throw away all those good pieces...not to mention the garden hose reels in the winter (penalty for having a heated shop). I have since moved the radial saw to where the miter saw was. I don't use the miter saw so now it is stored inside the radial saw base. Entry, office and half bath. Marv

Nice shop Marv. I see you have a router installed in the out feed table. Most people put them on the right or left of the TS, nothing wrong with yours though.

I put up more pics, but they didn't post. Oh well, they are there, but can't be seen. In the locked cabinet is a small drill press and a Delta Mortiser

That's weird - i see 'em just fine ... Dig that Wynn filter on your DC - is that an RBI scrollsaw?
Edit: There were a couple in there with the Page link instead of the direct link - i fixed those.

Yep, that's an RBI. Great scroll saw. Found it on Craigs list for $500. It came with a free sand flee drum sander too!

Nice shop, wisard. What is the tool above your foredom tool? I have the foredom also though it has been awhile since it has seen any use. Trying to correct that though.
