I sold one Rattlesnake pen and so I wanted to make another one...this one is Prairie Rattler instead of the Diamondback I sold. I like the Prairie Rattler better, but the Diamondback is more recognized. This one is the best snake skin blank I have gotten so far...nice scales and perfectly matched up - honestly, I could not find the seam on this one no matter how hard I looked for it. I don't even know how that is possible.

Very cool!
I've been wondering about those cartridge kit. Does any of them have a 'tip' that is colored like a bullet with the case that looks like a brass cartridge? I'm betting those would be really popular!

Hey TJ - this is the link to what you are looking for. www.pennstateind.com/store/PKCP3000.htmlDoug - GREAT looking pen. Those snake skins sure do look nice. I have a question.... - it's a question, not a critique, because I really do love the pen - but - it almost looks like....the scales should be running the other direction..... like - if you rotated the pen blank 180 degrees....the nib end and cap end would switch places..... see what I mean? The scales look like the are over lapping - but not sure which way it "should" go. Looks great though! Zac

Thanks TJ, Clay, and Zac. TJ - the cartridge kits come in 2 different finishes - Chrome and Gold. I have switched the nibs on them so that the cartridge is Chrome and the nib (bullet) is Gold and vice versa. I think it looks neat that way, but it does not seem to even get noticed by anyone else. So, I have been keeping the color consistent recently. I really am surprised that they have not come up with a nib like the one Zac linked to - that would seem like a real nice option to have. Mav - I recommend you try them - I really like this pen kit a lot. I love the fact that they come with an ink gel refill. Those really write nicely, which is important for an expensive pen to do. Zac, I had to decide which direction to have the scales go on the very first rattlesnake pen I made and I decided that the "point" of the scales pointing toward the nib end of the pen looked the best. Interestingly, the link you posted has a Diamondback blank on the picture of that "split" cartridge pen kit, and the scales are oriented the same way I do mine. Maybe it's just you

I like the way those pens write also. I have made a bunch of them in antler. I guess the next order I place i will add one of those snake skins.

Here is a link to a site Andrew (Maxwell Smart 007) turned me onto a while back. There are several of those snake skins I really want to try, but unfortunately they seem to be out of almost everything right now. I sent them an e-mail but never heard back from them. But, at least it gives you an idea of what some other snakeskin blanks would look like. I'd like to have at least 3 or 4 of those in my inventory at all times...maybe someday... www.exoticblanks.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=11&Itemid=60
