Have been around lurking. Thought I would jump in and join ya all.
Into making sawdust a bit off and on for many years. Bought a hammer when I was much younger and lately update my tool chest with a saw. Sawdust comes a bit easier now.

Welcome a board Russ!
But Larry is all wrong...you need a router next. Or you could skip all the intermediate steps and go straight for the lathe now ;D

Thanks for the welcome PLUS the suggestive input. Let's see....beltsander......router......lathe.....all stirred my curosity for making more sawdust, so went over to the power tools section and read and read and read. Thinking now....maybe my next step should be one of them new 'link belts' for my hand saw. Any suggestions??

I know this is going to start another "flame war", but I have not found any truth to the wild claims of some that the link belt greatly reduces hand saw vibration. I know, I know... there are some who say it just needs to be installed properly...but I have tried almost every position possible, from neck down to knees, without finding any significant reduction in vibrations.
OK all you "pro-link belt w/handsaw" advocates...flame away! ;D

I think the link belts work fine there, as long as they're wired so's to not interfere with the rope starter...

i dunno about link belts, but i KNOW for a FACT that if you rewire your hammer for 220, you'll be able to rip 8/4 hard maple with it.

Maybe the Link belt, that was holding my pants up, broke and made me go off line? ;D

Ya connect it on the other side of the tote from the transfer case, Joe - and if ya do it JUST right, ya get three-wheel-drive out of it!

Thanks again for more friendly welcomes.
And thanks, I think?? for more input on tool upgrades but to be downright truthfull I was more confused than before. Sooo, I put the link belt on hold and took Beamers advice. I just happened to have an old electrical cord lying around off of the wife's old worn out Hoover. It wasn't a hard istallation and didn't take long to install and now I have a new power tool. This is how it went. Wired the Hammer with a 110 cord and placed it on bench next to Hand Saw. After a few minutes of admiring the new upgrade I gently slid a 3 foot length 8/4 hard maple under the hammer. Took a deep breath and plugged into the 220. It runs quiet with a slight buzz and a bit of a hiss. Doesn't run long but it seems to be fast. Now for the results. I had to make a very fast observation as the lights in the shop went out almost at the same time as I plugged in the hammer. This is what I seen. The hammer jumped a bit as an arc appeared across the claws. As it moved a fraction of an inch while glowing it came into contact with the hand saw laying near the hard maple. The point of contact is with the claws of the hammer straddling the top of the saw which begin to glow a yellowish red. Again Beamer, your correct, as it will rip the hard maple but not as straight a line as the hand saw alone. Also the new created after glow leaves a bit to be desired unless this is to be a wood burning project. After stumbling around in the dark I found my way to the breaker panel where I restored the supply of arc. Unfortunaltely I found after returning to the bench that the new tool will not run. I believe it needs a reset button somewhere close to the bent 110 prongs that I altered to fit the 220 outlet. BUT I am the proud owner of a new three in one tool of its own unique design. A slightly blue tinted hand saw with an attached hammer on top which makes the first two tools. The old cord ust have a had a bit of Hoover memory left in it completing the three in one tool combination as this thing really sucks.

Well... ya got CLOSE. At least your saw's now induction-hardened.
I'm afraid you may've let all the smoke out of your hammer, though. Was that a Universal or an Induction hammer? I guess now it's an Induction hammer no matter how it started out. Ya might try fiddling with the start capacitor... but whatever you do, DON'T drain all the headlight fluid out of it - it's HECK to get outta' your hair!
