Meeeeee...., why you say, spent hours and hours making 5 bandsaw boxes, hand sanded them thru 220 to a perfect finnish, not a scratch or line on them. Two of them are cherry, known for blotching when stained, said to myself wow those look great... but.... I have some cherry stain, that would really enhance the look of those two boxes, just use some sealer to prevent them from blotching and stain them, self says what could be simpler than that and think of how much nicer they will be when done. Now logic me says why would you put stain on somehting that already looks great, self says "we can make it better... come on" note to me, do not listen to self for he is an idiot!!!! Sealed the boxes and stained them with some cherry stain that was about a year or more older, bad idea, spent most of sunday afternoon sanding them back to bare wood because..... you guessed it, they blotched really bad. Morel of the story, self is an idiot and need to use logic when woodworking sometimes.....

I say we make it idiot of the day (a year is too long, we all have screwed up). Well maybe not of the day, I would have to post something I did everyday.

I say we make it idiot of the day (a year is too long, we all have screwed up). Well maybe not of the day, I would have to post something I did everyday. Agreed. Don't dwell on it past a day...just remember for next time. And rest easy in the fact that today, someone, somewhere (probably me) will make an even bigger boneheaded move. ;D  |

Classify this situation under the heading of experience.
The more failures the more experience.
Just don;t hang out with people that say " I told you not to do that ." Kind of gets in the way of building experience.
