Today junior came over to work on his baby crib with me. I had difficulty not laughing outright when I first saw him, and looked to see if he had a wooden tool tote in his grip. The garage shop is cold this time of year and it is difficult to get the temperature above 50 oF. He was simply dressed for the working conditions but it was too much to pass up asking if he was dressed as St Roy, AKA the Woodwright, AKA Roy Underhill. He asked "Who's that?" Here's the source of my mirth. A baby crib lies waiting in the stack of cherry boards to the lower right of the picture. There was such a pile of tools and debris on the table saw that some of the small stuff was easier done in the grand old manner.

Dave, tell him that I like the hat. I've been after Karen to find me one like that in blue denim. I like those bib Carhardt overalls, too.
Thermal underwear, t-shirt, flannel shirt, overalls...yep, he's dressed for the chill. I notice that flannel shirt came off when he got on the labor end of that plane, though. ;D

Definitely looks like some memories in the making!!!
BTW, I see a couple handsaws in the background that could use a bit of TLC. ;D

You picked up on that right away didn't you Cody? He did warm up pretty quick after a little sawing and planing. Who needs heaters when you have hand tools? I like that style of hat too but they didn't have my size in anything but gray, and I already have enough gray on my noggin without adding more.
Yeah Jerry, this is by far the best father-son project, even better than the automotive engine rebuild stuff.
Those hand saws that are so rich in "patina" are actually pretty danged sharp and true (excepting the 24" miter saws nestled under the mallet). I'm hoping they will polish up a bit with use rather than risk ruining the ghostly etching by wet sanding.
The full sized #16 on the far right is the one that my would be woodwright was practicing with a couple weeks ago; he has improved to the point that I felt it was safe to show where the tenon and dovetail saws reside and gave license to use them Sunday.
