here is another gecko maple pen. kit is classic gun metal. I finished this one with wipe on poly so it is very slick and shiney. I did notice that the wipe on poly built up thicker than I thought it would and I now have minor fitment issues on nib and center band. This a bonus gift for my mother for christmas so the fitment issues should fly. I hope she likes it.   |

ww.com and wow.com member gecko sent it to me, It is actually maple from a tree he cut down. He did not want to waste some of the offcuts so he milled them up in pen blanks. There are several of us that he has sent wood to so we just referr to it as gecko maple.

I really like the wood he sent, I have a few punky spalted up pieces I need to do. I was running low on ca but now have plenty to stabilize with. I may give it ago this weekend. thanks for the comments

I have made about 8 or 10 of these gecko maple pens and have not been disappointed yet. Some of the nicest ones I have, have not even been used yet.

Beautiful pen! I am amazed by the beauty you guys find in that Maple. I am really glad the wood didn't disappoint you. Might have to go out to the scrap pile one more time before I send it off to be burned.

Maverick what kind of kit is that really nice pen. Did a outstanding job with the finish really brought the wood out with your finish.
