I'm not sure if I ever introduced myself at the other board, so let's have a fresh start here! I'm Andrew, 30 years old as of a month ago, and just married. I'm a supply teacher up here in the middle of nowhere, waiting for someone to retire so I can teach history, permanently! I've a bag load of university degrees, mostly because I loved studying at university! Who knew philosophy and latin could be so much fun! I'd still be earning degrees if they didn't cost so much money! I got my start woodworking about five years ago - started with a jigsaw, then bought a random orbit sander - both black and decker...cordless drill came around that time too...Over the years, I've added a ton of other tools, but haven't done much since buying my lathe - the vortex is STRONG! Anyway, that's me in a nutshell...if I'm not working or turning, I'm out fishing - summer or winter! Andrew

You in a nutshell? I always pictured ya a bit taller for some reason. Welcome, and we're glad to have ya here! Fishin', eh? Whatcha go after? I've fancied myself as a fisherman at times, usually going about the big channel cats that hang around the local dam. Mostly I look like an idiot sitting beside a river... Might have to break off one of these days when it's a little rainy and go after some of the big cats. It's backwards, but I've had my best luck when it's a slow drizzle of rain. Something about it running the insects off the water seems to make the biguns a little hungrier and a little more prone to bite.

We've got excellent fishing here! One of my neighbours just got a 50" (and 50lb) muskie the other day...then today there's a 53" one in the paper! I'm a fan of bass, muskie, and walleye fishing, mostly, but big ol' 40" lake trout can be fun too! Andrew (And yes, I'm a bit bigger than a nutshell - burly Swedish Canuck! )

When I was in Eau Claire, WI, for 2.5 years, I tried really hard to catch one of those... No Luck! The biggest fish I caught there was a Pike 19" long!

If a 19" pike floats your boat, Joe, you need to come up here for some fishing! We still fish for lake trout the old fashioned way - with big ol' poles and steel line. You drop a spinner down about 100 feet below the surface (which means about 200 feet of steel line out), and troll as if you're marlin fishing... When they hit, it's like a cannon! Muskie are more fun - they sometimes bite a small jig when you're bass fishing, so you have to reel in a monster with 8lb test - makes for an interesting day!

Man!
That sure sounds EXCITING!
Sure wish I could... but...
BTW, I was scared, scared, scared when that Pike came out of the water & unto the bank! All I could see were TEETH biting the air! Luckily, someone who knew what to do was nearby & saved me!

Hey, I don't know the rules here yet, but most of us would say "No pics...didn't happen!" Especially when telling fish stories! ;D oops - the same shortcuts don't work here... P.S. Good to see you here too Andrew!
