In a perfect world, you can just square up drawer slides with the cabinet and every thing would be hunky-dorry, but my world is far from perfect, so this is how I install drawers. First, attach the rear sockets to some 1/2" plywood. Then just start a screw in the back of the cabinet so the rear sockets/plywood can rest on it. It needs to be too low at this point. You can go ahead and screw the front of the slides to the face frame now, too. Now slide the drawer into the slides, clamp the drawer front tight to the face frame. This will move the rear sockets/plywood to where they need to be (whether it's square with the world on not). Shoot a couple screws in and your done. This method will work on any drawer slide using rear sockets. I usually install doors and drawers after the cabinet is in place, so things are just a little different here.

Suweet! Thanks Jason. Does that mean I'm somebody again? I haven't been "somebody" since I retired.

This method will work on any drawer slide using rear sockets. KV offers rear mounting brackets for their ball bearing, full extension slides. Other manufacturers might, but I know KV does.
