Hi everyone Here are a couple of pics of my newest commission. It is for my wife's cousin down in NC who owns a buffalo ranch. Buffalo Jack is the president of the Southeast Buffalo Association and wanted me to make a few of these for the auctions that he will attend .The box is 6"x8"x3.5"walnut. There are 75pieces from 12 different woods on the lid. Still have to install the hinges, lining and another coat of finish. Fun little project The nickel shows the scale

Ya know... I like that.
Is that a tulipwood sky? Lacewood border?

Hi Tim You are correct-- the sky is tulipwood, the background is lacewood the mountains are morado, the tree is lignum vitae the fence is holly, the grass is poplar, the buffalos are walnut with peruvian walnut heads and ebony noses and eyes, the baby buffalo is butternut, the horns are maple, the water is blue mahoe, the shoreline is mahogany.

I'm betting that rail fence was a BIRCH to cut, wasn't it? Lotsa' ... "fretting" ... about breakage.

Yea the fence was tough. Had to drill 1/16" pilot holes then thread a 2/0 reverse tooth blade into each hole . I use a set of 2 power jewelers glasses so I can see what's happening. Challenging but fun.

They ought to give you a TV show for making those. You'd be rich!
