Hi, my name is Jerry and I am a wood-a-holic. I've been playing at woodworking for a couple decades or more but only got serious about it in the last 8 or nine years after the young'uns moved on leaving me with a bit of money for feeding my habit of tools and wood.

Though I got some help in learning from my grandfather, his was a mostly hand held power tool shop so I learned to make do with what was available. Reading books and magazines on the subject gave me the basics to get out there and work at it.

I've got a shop full of power tools and nearly my full share of vintage and modern hand tools. I like to say my shop is a blended one in which I use the best tool and technique for the job at hand, but in actuality, I often resort to a hand tool method instead of a power tool one because I enjoy the quite and calm of working with hand tools as opposed to the screaming of dieing electrons.

BTW I live in Central Texas where I am twice retired from two different state and local government entities.
