I think it's pretty cool - and I've heard good things about it. Never used one, but I've thought about trying it out before.... 'cept 200 bucks could go towards other things in the shop I've I was to plunk down any money.

I've got that Ridgid OSS and love it. It really is a nice sander to have. The belt changes out to a spindle very quickly and easily. Dust collection is adequate though nothing special. and the different spindle sizes are really handy to have and quick and easy to change out also.
It is nice and quiet too.
I have used mine a lot with "handled" cutting boards and the Reindeer I make. Sure saves a lot of time.
I have not used the belt as much because I have an old Craftsman bench top belt sander that I still use.

I have the older gray one and love it. It has never given me a bit of trouble even after years of hard use. As Doug said you can switch between belt and spindle within seconds. I would say it is one of the handiest sanders I own.

Three or four years ago I read a lot of unfavorable reviews on that tool. For the past year or so, however, I've read nothing but positive reviews.
I don't know what Rigid did to it, if anything, but it is a very popular sander now.

I have a Grizzly OSS (G0538) which is fine if you don't need the belt function or the tilt.
If I were doing it over again, I would probably go for the Ridgid. Price difference is negligible if you have to ship from Griz but can buy off the shelf at Home Depot. The tilting table is a good feature. And while I can't lay my hands on it anywhere, I read a positive review in a magazine recently, for whatever that's worth.

I have the rigid. I use it more than I thought I would, pretty much anything with curves. Dust collection is decent with my shop vac.

I have one! I really LIKE it! I got it for a REAL good price off of eBay... Saved lots of $$$ I hook a shop vac hose to the DC port... It gets a lot of the stuff (most of) BUT there is some that get's on the top table and you have to keep blowing it off during a heavy sanding session. Again, I like it... It's good!

Good deal!!
Just as soon as I can sell this Gurzzly thing I have now (I haven't liked it since I got it), I'll be the proud owner of the Ridgid.
Thanks for the feedback, gentlemen.
