note to self... when the dust collector or the cyclone pre-collector are getting full - stop what one is doing and empty it. otherwise it is a big, dusty, shavingsy dad-burned mess! they were over 1/2 full of useable space and i started planing some 4/4 white pine down to 3/4... well i filled up fast and suddenly the planer was pushing air out of other blast gates (i have the DW735 with the integral blower) thankfully no harm no foul -- but just stupid. another tickmark on my idiot head john

I had a similar incident. I'd sawn a LOT since the day I got the saw but never considered that there might be a large amount of dust. My saw ejects a little sawdust through the holes in the front of the saw (where the crankwheel shafts come through the body) I normally dustpan it up and pour it down beside the blade into the bag. I did that one day and got two fairly loaded dustpans full of dust.
I needed to trim a piece so I set the cut up, hit the switch and went STONE BLIND from the dust kicked up. apparently, when I'd been pouring it into the bag for convenience, I'd allowed the dust to accumulate to the point that it was actually above the bottom of the blade. In a side trip, the bag that came with my saw will hold 1-1/2 5 gallon buckets of dust...
Doh!

Yep, the 735 can generate a real bunch of chips when you get started on a few boards! I currently use the Gravity hose for the 735 to a fiber drum... that thing sure pushes those chips out! I like it! Crazy thing... the other day I wanted to cut less than an Inch... it would not go any lower! I thought it was broken... It was no big thing, so I just stopped and went on... Later, I looked at the manual... I noticed that little knob at the other side... the one that selects 1", 3/4". etc...!! Did I feel so stupid! I knew about it... I had just forgotten about it! A great planer!

I had a couple incidents with my DW735 when I first got it. I used a shop vac with a reducer coming out of the planer. A couple times I forgot to turn the shop vac on before I stated planing. The planer would blow the reducer off. It's amazing how much shavings that thing can blow out before you can get stopped. Fred
