I don't have a SCMS so I use a CS or if it less than 8" my CMS. I got tired of my miter gauge and sled falling off the table on wider cuts. This is what I did and it looks like it will help. It is easy to remove and put on, it just fits over the rail and one clamp holds it in place. Fred

Now that is an interesting idea. I don't think I've ever seen one like that, but I sure can see the usefulness of it. How much wider a cut can you make now?

Doug the board that I had was 9.5", just had it layin around. I guess you could make it wider but stability and reach might get to be a problelm if you went to far. Fred

Good idea Fred if the guide slots match true and hold their position, just a wiggle could mean the loss of a final dimensional cut.

I've thought about doing something like that with mine on several occasions. Let is know how it works out.

I think that's a sweet idea!! - and honestly - the extension is only offering support - because the runner is still mostly in the TS factory miter track..... so - I don't really think accuracy is much of an issue. I would imagine you could make it as wide as you want, considering two things: A - like you said, support for it....and B - gotta be able to reach under it and turn the saw on/off and adjust blade height etc....
Looks cool!!!

I at first just thought that the board would suffice holding the miter gauge but the Incra miter gauge has two Teflon bushings that snug it in the miter track and when it was moved back past the second bushing it would move back and forth. I had the miter track from an old router table so I cut a couple pieces off it. Aligned them with miter gauge and screwed them down. It is solid and no side play. I might epoxy them in place. Jason here is the switch.

That should work
I had an Incra on my saw, sure like it and it had excellent repeatability.

Hey Fred - nice idea ... quick question - where's yer switch? Me? I like my switch bumpable - i wanna be able to knock off the power without moving my hands so I have a paddle that my knee can bump that pushes the off button on my saw. You don't have to reach under that extension to get at yer switch, do ya?

You don't have to reach under that extension to get at yer switch, do ya? I think that'd be a fairly simple add-on, and the off switch would be in easy reach of his knee.
