Well, This is the first of 6 of these I need to do Paul is retiring this week - and he is only doing half days so I need to bring this in tomorrow!! My company makes electronic as well as mechanical indicators. High end stuff. We also make all sorts of other gages. This is an electronic indicator called a micro maxim. One of the electrical engineers reprogrammed it to be a clock. I inlaid a plaque into the mahogany so it is flush with the surface. I think it came out nicely. All the gages made at Federal Products used to have a mahogany box. Well, the mahogany boxes are no longer offered, and now the gages are put into plastic boxes. Actually - the old Federal mahogany boxes have become something of a collectible. Anyway - there is no more mahogany in the carpenter shop, so I bought a big chunk of African Mahogany. So - this will be going to Paul tomorrow.

That set will be appreciated for many years to come. I am sure Paul is very proud of his long career with Federal. bmorto

That's pretty seriously cool! I like the gauge-cum-clock touch.

That is really nice Leo. Great job on the desk set.
It seems a little strange to see the 29 1/2 years of service though. I guess half years are important when you are very young or...

We got the engineering group around and called Paul in.
We suprised him with the desk set.
It's a nice goodbye to a great guy.
I wish him well in his retirement.

Leo - that came out REALLY nice.... the plaque inlay looks really good, much better than just fixing it to the top - the piece of wood looks great so - no matter what you did, it'd be nice.... but inlaying the name plate - that's superior IMO.
Really neat that they reprogrammed that gauge to be a clock!
