well i ordered the plans last week .Got them saturday read them twice.Called Hal and asked some questions then ordered the video.Alot to comprehend.My loml granddaughter and i cleaned the shop for 10 hours on Sunday it is sweet.I started to look for wood and found on his site the perfect place in pa to get it.I ordered 95bf enough to do two chairs in walnut 9/4.It was pricey but after he sent pics i know now why he charges what he does the wood is breath taking.I get it Wednesday.I have to order some router bits and some special sand paper but almost everything i allready have.70 bf is enough to do two chairs but i know me i will make mistakes.I am going to start the forms this weekend.if this works out i am going to mmake 6 chairs 2 cherry two tiger maple and the walnut.I AM EXCITED

Way to go, db! Don't be intimidated by all the info regarding the plans. Use the check list Hal provides and just follow thre steps. At times the sequence doesn't make sense but it will become clear later on.
It's a rewarding project and i'm loking forward to seeing your first completed rocker.

If you don't have an angle grinder, you might consider getting one and one of those flap discs. They work great for removing lots of material quickly for the butt bucket.

I would also suggest a box fan blowing across the workpiece to blow the massive amounts of dust produced away from your face.

I tried my portable DC and after about 5 seconds the bag was clogged with the fine dust. Shop vac the same. Ended up fogging the neighborhood with mesquite dust when I moved out onto the driveway and set up a fan so I could see what I was doing.
