Bethlehem Olive Wood (BOW) on a chrome slimline Pro pen kit. Another new kit for me, this one is really not much like the Slimline pens in spite of its name. It takes 8mm tubes and is quite a bit larger than the slims and a lot thicker wood that stays on the barrels too. And it is a click pen to boot. I like it a lot! LOML did the finishing for me using Tim's Lacquer dipping method - 2 coats. Very nice finish! I made this pen as a mate for the .9mm pentel pencil I made. The set was a request I got from the last craft show I did. Here is the set:

That stuff is sure purdy! Wonderful job!Where do you get those little plastic-looking pillows you set them on? ... look like some big Fish-Oil capsules from the end...

Doug, Those look really nice! Before I read on about not being much like the regular slim lines, in spite of the name, I was thinking "hmm.... that looks awfully "fat" to be a slim line" How is the BOW? Is it pretty much the same as regular Olive Wood.....just from Bethlehem? I've actually not used Olive Wood yet either so.... how is THAT to work with? Looks good - it matches the pencil set GREAT!! (I am more a fan of click pens too, for the most part) Nice work, Zac

Those things are glass Pente pieces LOML got at Hobby Lobby. There is another name for them, but I cannot for the life of me remember what it is CRC disease. ;D She hot glued them together for me to use for taking pen pictures and has all different kinds of colors but I like the clear ones best. You will also see them used in those Tetra fish vases that were so popular a while back.

It smells wonderful while you work it and it has streaks of dark through it that look like spalting. It turns very nicely too...just no down side to it that I can think of other than cost, which is not too bad anyway. Monty sells some very nice BOW at very reasonable prices. www.woodenwonderstx.com/store/index.htmlI just hate turning so much of it into shavings and sawdust because the pen blanks are a full 7/8" square!
