Nothing wrong with the HSS metal that Sears sells or used to sell anyway,,,I had a set and they just required sharpening more than the higher end.I ground and used then for speacialty tools ie: a funky looking tool I used to make captive rings. It was a hook looking affair and an accident waiting to happen but you could make it work with a delicate touch LOL.
I ground another that was flat on one side,a point like a dagger(knife) sharp on both sides with a bevel on each.I used it to clean out the bottom edges of small beads. It was another easy to catch tool but usable.
Oh BTW we have "Pigs in a Poke" down south of you.smile

Brand new in the box? I wonder how long it has been since Craftsman made turning tools? At least, I have not seen any since I started turning. Sound like a great deal Boodrow, but, without pics we have to with-hold the "you suck" for now

Some of those are essentially identical to several I now own, and have used for years, and reach for before any "brand-name" tools. There are some there, though, that I didn't even know Sears ever sold - like that middle box, the four scrapers. Those four scrapers, in my opinion, are worth the money you paid for the whole shebang.
The tool on the far right in the pics - next to the 1/2" round-nose scraper - is that a detail tool (flat flute, but with a spindle-gouge grind on the bevel)?

Tim u are correct , tis a spindle detail tool. One thing I noticed on these , they apear to not be sharpened. I will fix that soon. Also u can tell the quality of these are no where near the sorby or other limey tools. The shafts are shorter and the shafts look thinner. But I still think I got a damn good deal on um. Boodrow

Yep, good deal. I agree with Tim that the scrapers alone are well worth the cost. OK, I guess you suck! A whole lotta steel for not much cash.
