I've got this practically new Delta wet wheel sharpener I acquired almost free. It's the one with the 2" x 8" white wheel on one side with a 1/2" X4" high speed wheel one the other side. Kinda' like a Tormek unit.
Problem is I have absolutely no use for it. So I got to thinking maybe I could put a leather face on the slow speed 2" wheel and use it for lapping.
What do you guys think? I'd probably want a friction fit on the leather so I could remove it if I ever actually needed the grinding wheel.

If you ever use the wheel at all, it'll shrink (it's friable stone) and the sleeve won't fit any more. They do make a leather stropping wheel for grinders, but I don't think they work very well at low speeds... you'd need to mount it on the high-speed side.
