Heck yeah!
That looks like a big mudder, too. Plenty for what? 3 or 4?

That is outstanding, Gomer. It's really coming along nicely and I'm probably as anxious as you to see it in the finished state. That is such a cool build.

Thanks Cody. You are so right about wanting to see her finished, although the process has been so much fun and educational that I kinda hate to see the end. Who knows, maybe somebody will want to pay for one and I can keep on building. I know for sure, this is the last boat that Lupe is going to let me build for myself. She is tired of me talking about it and doing nothing else. Oh well, it's worth all the yakking she can dish.

I like it. I like it.
Amazing feat to build a canoe in the garage.
I like the strip that goes from stern to bow, are you going to put a strip on the top sides ( left and right ) so people do not damage the wood as they enter and leave the canoe ?

Looks great but how the heck will it stay together, what thickness is the strips, are they just glue joints, will it have a floor of sorts etc,got a link to one of similar construction in the finished state?

Larry, yes there will be strips along the top edge. Inside will be 3/4" x 3/4" ash strips with scuppers (slots) every 4 to six inches. Outside will be another 3/4"x1" strip of ash. These are the gunwales. (pronounced gunnels). Dick, the fiberglass and epoxy, decks @ bow and stern, and gunwales will give it incredible strength. The thickness of the strips are 1/4" X 3/4" w/ a bead and cove joint glued together. Here is a pic of the color I want to make her. This is the boat that inspired me to try it. Gracias, Boodrow. Get your checkbook out. You can be my first customer.

That really looks good,is it just the resin ,I would hadly think that would be the case.It must be a terribly fine weave on the mat or is it something special for cannuuus or something new?

dici, it will be a 6 0z. fiberglass mat. Completely invisible by the third coat of epoxy. If done correctly.
Thanks Leo, I can only imagine what your kayak will look like. If it is anything close to your other projects it will be a true masterpiece for sure. She will weigh in @ between 58 and 60 lbs.

Absolutely Boodrow. A fellow Texans word is as good as cash money. About $2500 worth of cash money. That sounds like a bargain to me. I would have expected around double that amount.

That looks mighty nice naked, and I imagine it will look even finer after finishing.
You're starting out with 1/4" thick strips but how thin do they get at the glue joints after sanding/fairing?

Thank you, Dave. I estimate about 1/32" is taken off in fairing sanding process. If you don't do a sticklers job when beading and coving it could turn into quite a bit more. Precise routing pays off big time.
