Well here is is. All done and ready for delivery - almost. The dresser is done - but I need to make a changing table top for it. That is not going to be anything special, just pine and probably not even finished. Just utilitarian and disposable. When Anna is 4 years old it will be long forgotten. The dresser however - is a lifetime - or several lifetimes. I started building in end of February and I completed in end of May. Not bad considering doing a LOT of other stuff also. It's Oak - but you already knew that. The finish is 2 coats of Blonde Shellac - and 2 coats of 25% thinned Polly. Finished off with a coat of paste wax. MAN - tinypic is a PITA with thier new type in the 2 words security think. I can't wait to get into our new permanent home.

Very nice job Leo!! I really like the looks of those relatively sharp tapers at the bottoms of the legs. Adds a very nice distinctive style to it.
Just looking at the pic with the drawers and doors open, and I realized that it is not often (if at all) that you find drawer slides on furniture. Least ways, I don't recall any but some desk pieces with glides. Even with just clothing items in a chest drawer, the drawer can be quite heavy and sticky in the cabinet if it is just sliding on wood.

Outstanding, Leo. Very nice design and color. Nice choice on the pewter hardware also. You are correct about the lifetime quality. Your great-great-great grandchildren will even have a respect for your work. You done it right, bud. Just beautiful. You must be proud of that piece.

Nice job Leo!!!!! Took ya long enough! (don't nobody ask about my coffee table, k? ) That's quite a nice project. Did you find that you stuck faithfully to the design you did up in - was that solidworks? Did you have to make any 'reality adjustments' or was it pretty smooth? Fantastic work, sir!

Jason - yeah I stuck to it - with a couple of very minor adjustments. One such adjustment was the front bottom has a curve to it - the plan was straight. That is the biggest change

Leo,
That is great - really great. I'm happy you were able to get such a great project finished - honestly it doesn't seem like that long either. The finish looks really good too - I love natural.
I agree - tinypic totally sucks now that it makes you type in two words for each picture.... I'm eagerly waiting our new home, too.

Leo, that is a very fine piece of furniture. I've seen your work before and while you may take your time (anal comes to mind ;D) the end product is always worth the wait.
I know that your daughter will treasure it and probably her daughter will, too.
Ya done good, buddy.

Wow - thanks everybody.
Actually, I too was impressed the way it came out. As always, it looks better in reality, than the pictures can show.
Jerry - yeah drawer slides. I did think about conventional drawer slide design and decided against it.
In my quest to design my own stuff, I want function as well as beauty. The drawer slides are a good quality slide. They are 100 pound capacity and full extension. They slide freely full out and full in. I will continue to use drawer slides.

Looks great! I especially like the kind of wavy grain on the top center drawer, and the crisp even reveal on all the inset drawers & drawers. Something to be proud of.

Impressive in design and execution! And completed in lightning speed by my standards! I particularly like the edge treatment on the top.
Years ago we bought dressers at Babies R Us for both of our daughters, and they have drawer slides ... maybe as a safety feature? They've definitely withstood a lot of hard use and abuse (after all, my daughters changed their clothes like eight times a day!). I think the slides are a good idea.
