Now that the storms have settled down for the time being, and I have my center finders, the garage is so hot (100+) that I can't work out there long enough to finish repairing my garage door opener or start my turning.
I guess when things settle down from my trips to Omaha, I'll have to see if I can do some late night or early morning work. Hope my neighbors don't mind.

As a garage turner too....I feel your pain. It get's mighty warm in the garage. Especially since there is no airflow in it! Hasn't reached 100*F here....yet. But I know it's coming!!
It's not bad out there right now, but I'd hate to see one of the neighbors getting all upset and doing some kind of childish thing while I'm sleeping. Seems just about the time I get home from PT, it starts getting uncomfortable......

It will be 96 here today with about 60% humidity. Feels like you are wrapped in a wet blanket and inserted into an oven

When we had our house built, we had them put a walk-through door in the side on the garage. Main reason for the door was taken away, so I framed in the bottom of the door, with an opening for an AC underneath a window. AC can't handle the heat out there, so now I just open the window with a fan on a stand in front and blow the air around. Helps quite a bit, but with the big door (which has to be open to use the table saw and to allow the cross draft) faces the west and in the early evening the place is an oven till the sun ducks down behind the houses across the street.
Lathes shouldn't be making enough racket to bother the neighbors, so I don't see where that would be a problem. Of course, a DC running can be noisome.
