I have not been getting my minimum daily requirement of burn lines from other turners recently, so I decided to do some of my own. I feel much better now ;D I just now realized the pic does not show the top well, which is "dished". I swiped that idea from Zac, and I really liked it a lot.

I like burn lines when used in moderation...like your tap handle. Like any other kind of embellishment, it can be overdone.
That handle looks good.

GRRR, every time I hear "tap handle" my mind reverts to my time in metal shops and I think "wow, now that's a man proud of his tools!" Excellent looking handle Doug. BTW, have you ever thought of making a metalworking tap handle? I'm pretty sure somebody would buy one, although it would be a niche thing.

Think I use too many?? Nah, j/k. Anymore I almost put burn lines on things just to get a rise outta the guys! Doug - that's an awesome beer pourer..... I'd certainly drink a beer from that tap handle!! Zac

Thanks Cody, TJ, and Boodrow. I really like burn lines too,,, just giving Zac a little ribbing TJ - I never even thought about making wooden tap handles for a metal tap. I use a tap for threading bottle stoppers and light pulls, so now you got me thinking... I took another pic showing the dished out top. I liked the one Zac did so much that I stole the idea from him

I agree with the others, good use of burn lines. I am not a huge fan of burn lines but when used in moderation I can appreciate them.

What is the lenght on that piece? And is it lacquer dipped?
Good looking chunk of mesquite, nice tight grain...and the burn lines give it that little bit of extra pazazz!!
Scott (hope you have a good show) B

Nice piece Doug. The lines are perfect to accentuate the beads and cove.

Thanks for all the comments guys! Scott, this one is Lacquer dipped. I have real problems with CA finishes in combination with burn lines. So, even though I would normally use CA for a finish on Mesquite wood, this one is an exception. Oh, and I did not measure it, but I think it is about 4" long...probably about 2" longer than the plastic one that comes with the tap originally. Zac, I kid you a lot about the burn lines, but then I turn around and use them too. They really add a little something extra in some cases, but I have been known to overdo them sometimes I think this one was about right.
