Here is a Rattlesnake pen I completed yesterday along with a second barrel turned and ready for assembly. Didn't get the pics taken until today. I really like these Prairie Rattler blanks from Woodturningz on a Cartridge pen. They are expensive, but I can get 2 pens out of one pen blank so that helps quite a bit. Can you see the unassembled barrel reflection in the brass cartridge in the pic? I thought that was pretty neat.

That is bad arse Doug - so much so that I think I may have to try one for myself!! Do they turn like a regular acrylic blank?
Wow - that is nice.... how did you finish it - I mean sanding - just MM then EEE??

Thanks Boodrow, but the snake work was the only thing I did on this one It's protected in a whole lot of plastic, so no problems for me. I think it is one of the best looking things to put on a cartridge pen. Zac, it is very hard stuff and will chip out if you are not careful. I use a sharp skew (I know...that 4 letter word!) and go slowly. I also use my vertical barrel jig on the band saw to get it as close to the bushings as possible before putting it on the lathe. And yes, it polishes up very nicely with just some micro mesh and then I follow that up with some EEE. It's nice to not have to put any finish on a pen for a change

Went looking at WTz website....couldn't find that blank.
Thinking the bullet and the snake make a good combo, second to antler and bullet!

I think you'll have to call WT Scott - they have a ton more stuff than on the website, the website is usually for stuff nearly guaranteed to be in stock.

Thanks Mav and Les! I appreciate the comments.
Scott, Woodturningz will sell almost anything that is in the PSI catalog at a discount price. I use the PSI catalog and then call Woodturningz to place an order. Only a very few times will they tell me that something in the PSI catalog is something they cannot sell...99 percent of the time they sell the same exact thing in the PSI catalog for a discounted price and ship so quickly that it gets to me in 2 days. PSI can take up to 2 weeks for the same order.
But, you have to call Woodturningz to place the order...that is the only down side.
