Does anyone have some tips for working with paduak and keeping the cheeto dust from infecting light wood when you sand. I had done about 4 things with Paduak in the past 6 months. Still have a lot of cheeto dust around my garage from months ago. Please hold the dust collecting lectures. So I had my own methods and kept it from infecting. But just wondering if someone did this a better way. I don't have anything i am working on currently but I am sure I will in the future. Sure is pretty stuff when you get it finished. With any exotic or dark wood I am always anxious to get to the finishing step and see how much it pops when you get some finish on it.

I am not to that point yet. It is such pretty wood. Just trying to see what the best methods for managing that dust infecting other woods. It does seem to smell a bit. I haven't thought it smelled really bad but I have noticed a faint smell to it. I did a headboard for a king size bed. Curly maple in the center and paduak trim or frame around the outside. Did a lot of constant cleaning to keep that paduak out of the grain on the maple. Utilized a magic eraser even for this. Yes that did work well and no it didn't mess up the maple or paduak. The headboard looks great. but boy a lot of stopping, cleaning up, and being real careful to not turn the maple all orange.

I really like Paduak, but hate the orange dust that gets into everything else. Sanding is the worst! I never did find anything that worked real well.

I use a close in shop vac when sanding that stuff and wear an old ragged T-shirt, it seems to stain clothing more or less permanently.

Shop vac, then if you still have contamination hit it with some tack cloth, that will pick up some of it. I also hit it with alcohol to see if that will pick some of it up out of the pours.

I have turned to my scraper to avoid the dust from sanding. I avoid alcohol wipe downs myself unless it is just used on the Padauk. It seems that an alcohol wipe just uses the dust as a stain.
