I just saw a posting in another forum that said the Rockler store in Mesquite is closing. A new store is supposedly opening in Richardson @ Coit and Beltline May 15. So if you go by the Mesquite location and it is closed now you know. Will be a tad bit closer for me.

Good info to have. I think there is another Rockler in the DFW area, but the Mesquite store was the most convenient for me, being on the loop.

I'll bet that will just tear Boodrow up. He was so fond of that Rockler store in Mesquite.

It closed on Sunday. Richardson store will be open on May16th. Gonna be a lot bigger store too. More in stock items. Seems every time I went there they had to order what I needed. Maybe it will be worth the few extra miles. The other Rockler store is located in Arlington @ I-20 and Cooper. On the SW corner in one of the many strip malls. I read that there is more retail sq. footage @ that intersection, than anywhere else in the country. I believe it. It is a nightmare @ Christmas time. Stay away.

I don't care much for the one in Arlington so I don't go there too often plus the one in Mesquite was actually closer to where I was staying while working down there. Will be nice not having to dodge the traffic on LBJ (635) also. This new one will be a lot closer to the Woodcraft store also....lol. I took a guy who is the same age as my son with me to Woodcraft one day when we were working down there and he fell in love....lol. I'm sure his wife appreciates me for showing him that store....lol.

Never been to Woodcraft store. I'll have to check it out. Kyle, it is off of Marsh Lane and Brookhaven. It is north of 635 in the Brookhaven shopping center near the back and closest to Brookhaven.

When my (Orange, CA) local Rockler moved down the street, they sold a lot of stuff that they didn't want to move. I got a 690 "D" handle base for a ridiculous price. ($20 or so, I think)
So if they haven't moved already, check them out for bargains.

Yea Mike, I signed up for their catalog today. Got a sneak preview on their website. They seem to be a little less expensive than Rockler. At least on the items I was looking at. Going there tomorrow after I pick up my cedar to start stripping the Prospector. Got the cedar @ Cedar Supply of Carrollton. 1x6x18' for $11 a piece. I will be spreading cedar all over there floor, looking for just the right boards. I hope they don't charge me double. BTW I'll clean up after myself.

Wow, I've generally had the opposite experience between Rockler and Woodcraft, i.e. Woodcraft being more expensive on most stuff. I know Woodcraft has added a lot of their own "brand" stuff, and the retail stores I've been in have been much smaller with less stuff on display than the couple of Rockler stores I've been in (Mesquite and one in Houston), so maybe they're pushing going after market share via lower prices.
