The price ain't bad, but . . .
Looks like you gotta use a wrench to secure the tail stock to the ways as well as the tool rest. That could get monotonous. Definitely not a heavy duty machine. I might offer $75 and see if the fella would bite. If you get anyway "into" turning, that machine is not gonna keep you happy.
Ewe, just noted that 14" diameter capacity. A 1/2HP motor and what looks like a 3/4" spindle is not a good combo, IMO, for turning stuff that large.

Couple other negatives -
The low speed is not low enough for the diameter it can turn.
The chassis appears to be formed sheet metal, which would imo lack sufficient rigidity to provide any kind of accuracy.
I'd pass.

Jerry brings up good points on wrenchin' the tailstock and the banjo ... i had that on my first lathe ... i didn't think it would be that bad ... i'm not patient with monotony.
Mark's points about the low-end speed are good. And 1/2hp ... 3/4" spindle ...
Yeah - i think I'd pass ... unless you get it for free (my first one was, s'why i even had it)

Thanks gentlemen.
Glad I asked.
I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger just yet anyway, but if a killer deal came along....

Good catch on that. In pic I thought it looked like maybe 3/16 angle iron, but then lookin at another pic, looks like square tubing. Not a good thing at all.

I agree with the other guys that I'd pass on that lathe. You would not be happy with it for very long.

The ONE thing it's really got goin' for it is... it's inexpensive. Might make an OK penning lathe, but that's about it, really.
Well... it does have one more thing goin' for it... it's lightweight. VERY lightweight. I'd give 'im $50 for it...
