Thought I'd drop a note about my big purchase last year the Sawstop Contractors saw. For those who don't know about the purchase, I got the contractors saw with the fence and a the 50" kit and the mobile base.
My time has been really tight through the winter and spring, but have gotten to the saw on a few occasions and a lot more through the spring.
1 year verdict? Buy this saw.
I haven't yet had to rely on the brake mechanism, so no comment on that, but the saw is just really really well made. Riving knives are THE way to go. The cuts are terrific, much better and safer than my rigid TS. I've not had a single kick back on this thing. I'm not saying it CAN'T happen, but the old saw was like Russian Roulette with wood.
Same operator, same skill level, big difference=saw's doing.
That's about it. Have to clean the mold off that potting bench I made and we'll have the 3 year followup on the uber-finish
Till then.

Good to hear Kerry. I love mine as well. Very well design despite the politics involved.

Everything I've read says the Sawstop (any model) is a well designed and robustly made saw. I think for Kerry and anyone who's livelihood depends on the use of their hands, the Sawstop is a logical choice. I have no doubt that before long, the technology will appear on all U.S. table saws.
I'm glad to hear you like the saw, Kerry and more importantly, that you are getting in some shop time to use it.

Yeah I mean - politics aside, you can't argue with the saw's performance. It's really had some stellar reviews - I wish that I had an opportunity to try one out. I'd also like to try out the portable Bosch saw that's out there, it looks awesome as well.
I concur - glad you got some shop time to use it!!

Yea, I did not like the initial tactics they tried to use, but in the end they came out with a very solid saw. I finally saw one last weekend and was impressed by how solid it seemed.
