I made 3 Cigar pens/pencils today which are pretty much the standard looking stuff. I have an order for a pen/pencil set in anlter for a graduation gift and needed to get these done. While I was at it, I had a antler Cartridge that I had ready to turn and so I did it too. I had been wanting to try one that was mostly pith like Les did a while back and I was very happy with the results. I think I still prefer the ivory look when possible, but for those antler pieces that are too big for that and too small for a stopper, this is a pretty good way to use them. At least I think it is...

Very nice, I like the white part too - but some people like the "bark" as I call it - the dark stuff on the outside. Nice job Doug!

I like it, Doug, both the pen and the color of the antler.

Thanks guys! I have been wanting to try one of these where it is all pith. Les made some great looking pens that ways a while back and I had some pieces that would be perfect to try. So it was nice that it worked out well.
Zac, I like a little of the bark left on the antler best too, but these were just too big for that, and I like that I was able to to use this particular antler piece too.

Nicely done Doug! Elk Antler has more character that Deer or Moose.
