As of May 1, they are closed to new business. If you wanted one of their new cyclones, it's apparently too late now.
I never saw the attraction of a plastic cone with an MDF blower housing but lots of other people did and by all accounts, Ed, the owner was a first class guy.

That's a bummer ... i had always window shopped their site from time to time ... not sure i could get over the plastic hump, neither ... *shrug*
I wish him and his family well in this time of need. He surely does have a good reputation. Prolly just a thin market.

Whose leg do you think you're pulling? You didn't go for it cause you couldn't get a steal of a deal from them, Jason.

Well there's no arguing with a man who speaks the truth.

That's exactly right, Jerry. Now that the opportunity to purchase a new one is past, I'm sure Jason will pick up a pre-owned Clearvue just because it's cluttering someone's garage. Probably will still be in the box and they will pay HIM to haul it off. ;D

Funny that this thread got revived (thanks to my straight man, Gary, over there) Bill Pentz is a member of our local club and was at our general meeting last Tuesday and he gave me the scoop on the ClearVue situation. Ed, the owner, is 67 and is sick of contributing to the workforce so he wanted to retire. He went on a vacation and left his son in charge for a couple weeks. Well, his son didn't do so well at the business because it just wasn't interesting to him. Well Ed really wanted to retire so he set a deadline of April 30th for his son to decide if he wanted the company or not. Turns out, his son doesn't want it so Ed, tired of working for a living, shut his doors on that deadline. Bill and his son, however, are trying to start up an operation over in this area doing the same kinda thing that Ed was doing. Bill's son built the original prototype that Ed began ClearVue with and so there's a lineage there. Bill's currently looking for some local CNC shops to make the impeller housings and whatnot. I gave Bill the address to this place and hopefully he'll chime in when he's got some time. Hopefully I didn't mangle the details too badly.

Bill has his admirers and detractors but one thing is certain; he more than anyone else is responsible for bringing the importance of dust collection to the average woodworker. He was also highly instrumental in forcing improved systems for the hobbiest woodworker. His participation here would be a major coup for WoW and lend it even more instant credibility.
