While I was cutting more Caragana logs to mill into pen blanks, found these neat grain patterns. I cleaned up, sanded applied some BLO and will make great conversation pieces which will sit on my desk. I see a Wolf, Butterfly and Yosemite Sam Mustache?

Hey cool beans, the 1st looks like a wolf and the 3rd like a flying turtle.

The other blanks you get should make some really cool looking pens if they're anything like those Rorshach samples. Is Caragana considered an invasive species in your area? I've not heard of it before, so looked it up.

I've not heard of it before, so looked it up. Mark Mark, Caragana ( Siberian Peashrub )was planted in the 1920's and 30's for farmland shelter belts and is still planted today. Makes for very nice pens which I will post. Les

exactly what I saw. then I read the post after I looked at the pictures. the wolf I thought did he burn that in or what the heck is going on here. very cool.

Pretty cool Les. I saw the wolf and the butterfly before seeing what you said about them, but the other one looked like a Spanish Conquistador to me I wonder what a bottle stopper would look like made out of that? Might be pretty neat looking.
