The sun came out, but the wind was blowing something fierce! So much for fishing! Maybe tomorrow? But I was able to get out and do some photography...just me and my white micro-fiber towel, cedar blank, tripod, camera, and pens. Anyway, since DougB has seemed to have gone to the flat-side of things.....figured someone should post lots of pictures! From the last three days at the lathe! #1: #2: #3: #4: #5: #6: #7: As always, comments/critiques are very welcome. Scott (there's no crying in baseball....in my best Tom Hanks voice) B

Awesome photography. I'm envious of your skills. Pretty nice subject matter, too.

Looking good Scott! You have really been busy ;D I have to say that you might have over turned that first cigar on the finial end, but man you got some nice looking pens there. Congrats, and thank you for helping take up the slack while I've been out playing with flatwork projects...I really appreciate it

Doug,
Good eye! That first cigar had some difficult moments, guess there was a soft spot in there. Was actually working on the other end of that piece when I heard something hit the trashcan. Turned the lathe off, and BINGO! piece missing. It was to the tube, and I only found a piece of the piece....used sawdust and CA to 'fix' the rest of it.
Turned the rest and hoped for the best, and a wide clip to 'hide' the really bad part. But thankfully, it came out okay. Just had to turn it down too far to get it back-to-round.
And no prblem, figured since I haven't done that many photos in the last few weeks...I could be a picwhore for a short while. You better hurry and get back to the vortex though.....
Scott (never know what I'll photo next) B

Scott,
Thanks for showing those. It's amazing still, how many different "looks" Black Cherry has. Nice workmanship on all, and a good save on the first from what you describe.
Thanks, Mark
