Mike -you too are certainly entitled to your own opinions. Years of professional woodworking aside. Those years as a pro does not build the character traits that you exhibit in these forums. Zac is spot on correct in your ability to cause a heated arguement at virtually every post you make. That is not "a direct" approach. That is a personally callous approach, and maybe intentional.
I am certain that you have abilities that many of us do not have. You don't really offer much of it up, rather, you cut down, more than you build up. That's your personal choice, not your years of experience.
We have had some VERY experienced and talented woodworkers come our way, with great personalities. AND, we have had some VERY experienced woodworkers come our way with less than desirable personalities. My choice with be the first type, and the second type can go pound tar. Years of experience mean absolutely nothing, when those years of experience do not have the ability to help, but rather serve only to gloat about how good they are and how small everyone else is. Phowee!!
Now, it is also your personal choice, to build up, or to tear down. I personally would hope you choose the former.
Re-examine what has taken place in this thread - trust me it was NOT Cody that sent it astray.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Personal character attacks might work better in a PM, so as not to cause a derailment of a thread. The ensuing interaction is more like a face to face, which I prefer. Maybe my responses are too direct and need a bit of sugar coating. You need to take some of your own advice, Mike. When you make posts such as: And... It makes you a hypocrite. Combative attitudes do nothing for anyone. Knock it off.

Cody - you ain't no Canadian - yer a Texan. I am a Canadian. I was recently bestowed "Honorary Canadian" status. It's similar to being knighted by the Queen, I think. I'm hoping for a peerage next. BTW, you ain't no Canadian, either. You are actually a misplaced Coonass. With a name like Voisine, you could get by as a native in South Louisiana...until you opened your mouth and that Massachusetts accent came out. ;D Edit in again: Zac, sorry we've taken this thread waaaaaaaaay off topic but I suppose you have all the spar varnish info you need, anyway.

No problem Cody - being from IL I could only be confused with someone from Iowa or Indiana when I speak. Zac

Honorary Canadian status is usually conferred by Bob and Doug Mackenzie, but I'll be glad to pass on a good word for all of you! www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsgVspgy184(and Roch Voisine was a French Canadian musician, so Leo's name would fit in pretty well!

May I offer a suggestion? All of you... let it sit for a couple of days... go back to the very Start of this thread... ... and read it again... I think you will realize that it turned from a Finishing subject into a knock-down drag-out FIGHT that really had no basis for happening! It happened merely because some thought one way of finishing the Truck Bed was the best way to do it... That's ALL! I came to the conclusion: It ended up with two choices:1. Spend more money to maintain a Pretty Shinny finish & be prepared to pay more for refinishing later. 2. Spend less money for a cool & Natural finish that would last longer & be easier to bring back to life when it it finally got a little dirty and dull. Why couldn't it have been left at that... The Spar way... or the Oiled way... ! Instead of the comments being taken in an educational way, it was decided to Fight & start calling names, etc. Think about it... it turned into a disgrace for the Forum... and even the Mod's couldn't keep it cool, calm, and collected! Just an observation... after seeing it all from start to finish... OK, back to sleep, ALL... ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ;D (I have been accused of insulting the members... I don't agree with that... I don't think I have insulted anyone... If I have, "Show Me". How many insults were flung around in this ONE thread? )

Joe - I think it's best to let a sleeping dog lie.
I have more than enough info on the topic - in regards to the battle that ensued - the mods took care of it.

Joe - I think it's best to let a sleeping dog lie. Zac I agree. If I wake up my sleeping dog in the morning when I am getting ready, he in turn wakes up my wife. My wife doesn't want to be worke up. Therefore, IT IS best to let a sleeping dog lie. ;D Oh, is that not what you ment?

I did NOT suggest waking the sleeping dog... ... but to just re-evaluate what happened... and how it could have been handled differently to avoid the battle. ... that's all...

I did NOT suggest waking the sleeping dog... ... but to just re-evaluate what happened... and how it could have been handled differently to avoid the battle. ... that's all... Wait just a second. What possible reason do you have for weighing in on a dispute that didn't even involve you at all and has been dead for two days? Bringing it back up after TWO DAYS is pointless. I had it fully under control - you know how I know that? because it died immediately after I said something. In fact, the parties involved had the decency to take it into PM and we all had a good discussion about it. How is that NOT stirring up crap? Joe, seriously. LEAVE IT ALONE. It doesn't concern you. It was handled, even if you don't think it was. Why weigh in now? TWO DAYS later? You stand there on your high horse pointing your fingers at everyone in this thread admonishing them for their role and you criticize the mods yet again for not doing what you think should have been done. You don't want to pick this fight, Joe. After you've been told repeatedly to lay off, this is not a fight you want to pick. Now - you can either just sit down and enjoy this forum and contribute meaningfully (which you have, i don't dispute that) or you can get all huffy (which you have, you can't dispute that) and stomp around. I can tell you that we'd all be MUCH happier with the former. You don't have a dog in this fight, so drop it.

Jason, FYI, this was the first time I had a chance to read the whole thing... and was somewhat shocked. Sorry you think I chimed in just to stir up trouble... Sorry you think that way... I merely made what I thought was a "constructive" comment.Sorry you don't think so... Sorry you got your tail in a knot for nothing... Why didn't you go the PM route instead of making it worse? Have a good day. ;D

Joe - we've tried the PM route. That hasn't worked. That's why it's public.
When we try to ask you to cooperate and not be so critical in PM, you only seem to listen for a few days then you're back to criticizing our moves. So, we figure since you seem sensitive to everyone else seeing the trouble you cause, why not see if that helps motivate you to get off our cases once and for all. That's why it's public.
You are the most vocal of every member - and from the amount of complaining you do, you appear to be the most unhappy with our performance. It's a wonder you stick around, honestly. As much as you dislike how we do our jobs, one has to wonder why you stay. It certainly LOOKS like you're just in it to stir up trouble.
Are we getting through to ya, yet? Is it sinking in? Lay off, man. The rules are simple. Stop walking the line and go into the field where the fun is, already.
