Do you have insurance (other than the basic homeowners) on your tools and / or shop?

If your tools are in your home workshop or basement, and you don't take them out to a "job site" I recommend you tally up the replacement cost of all of them. It might surprise you. Chances are it will exceed the coverage for that stuff on your Home Owners policy. You can add a "Valuable items" rider like thing to the home owners policy for a small fee that will cover them for all sorts of hazards.
On another side - When I used to work as Sears Tools and then Home Depot tools depts, not a week went by that a contractor would come in and get prices on all his tools that got stolen from either the job site, his truck, his locked, fenced truck parking lot, you name it. Very sad to see. Broke my heart that the guy had to start all over. Most didn't have specific insurance on the stuff either.

I do have my tools insured and I have an inventory sheet listing all of my tools, what I paid, where they came from and replacement value. I have to insure mine because they go out to job sites and also a lot of them are in my truck 24/7. I was just curious what everybody else does.

I don't have mine insured beyond the standard homeowner's insurance policy. I... also don't lock my shop door, or even close it most nights. I do have motion sensor lights everywhere a folk might get in, though, and I can see those lights from the bedroom window. I was tempted to scatter some 12-gauge empties on the ground around the door, but there doesn't seem to be a need for it.

Just homeowners here. I do need to check the values though. I have a spreadsheet where I keep track of what I paid and what the replacement cost is. It also contains a wish list sheet

Just homeowners. However, my policy is coming up for renewal and I will be talking to my agent about my policy to be sure I'm covered in regards to my tools and other extra items in the house.

I just had to price homeowners for the new house. Since my shop in in the basement, there is a special rider for that when it comes to any flooding. The base coverage is only a small amount, I think about enough to replace your HVAC if you were to really have some flooding. Other than that, I'd have to adjust my premium to get other property in the basement covered. I didn't realize this before. Might just be in OH too, I dunno.
