Boy's Bookshelf: I made this bookshelf to match an existing store-bought piece in my youngest son’s bedroom: The design is my own – the wood is soft maple, finish is a dye stain, followed by shellac and wipe-on poly. My first attempt at dovetailed drawers – they turned out okay. Except for the drawers, this is actually a duplicate of another piece I built for my older son (linked here), but as some of you may know, the sibling rivalry goes a bit easier if they have everything as much the same as possible :-). Kids fit inside too: And here’s the happy customer:

That is great stuff, Kevin! Did you hand-cut those dovetails? That looks really good. And you can tell the kids give their seal of approval.

Great job, Kevin and the match, both design and color, is perfect. Your woodworking skills are growing in leaps and bounds.

Nice pieces ... obviously sturdy enough for kids, but not kid-styled ... good for a lifetime!

That is great stuff, Kevin! Did you hand-cut those dovetails? Yes, I did hand-cut the dovetails. The gappy ones are at the back of the drawer - saved the good ones for up front! Thanks for all the comments - fun to build, fun to show the end result.
