Just wondering if anyone has a time tested cedar hope chest drawing with measurements and such?
I know if I do a search on the 'net I might find 50 or so... But this is more fun!

Cody's made a couple of 'em that I know of. I think he posted some "as built" pics. I know he went into detail on how he made the feet for 'em. That might help with a search, or better yet, wait around, he'll be outa bed before long.

Here's a sketchup drawing I did of one similar to one in Popular Woodworking Mag a while back, complete with a couple of drawers and a hidden compartment. I didn't ever get around to adding dimensions, but I've also got an exploded view that, if you have SU, you can add the dimensions yourself. If you're not in a hurry, I might be able to add in the dimensions as I get time.

Certainly not 'beginner level', but not un-doable either.... Scott (many hours of fun) B

Yep, Google SketchUp. The pro version is quite pricey, but the free version has plenty of power for what most wood workers might need.

I was laying in bed with the grandson watching Mickey Mouse Club. The kid is crazy about Mickey Mouse. Plus, it felt good to sleep late since I've been getting in to the office at 06:30 every morning.

I was in the shop at 6:30 this morning.
1/3 cord left to stack and that's it for today.
I call that excersize.
I had to move 1/3 cord first, to make room for the new stuff.
I guess the gym is paying off - last year I could not move a cord in one day.

Scott, I couldn't find the sketch I made of the chest I build but I'll draw one up later this evening. I did find the materials list which I will e-mail to you (it's in an Excel file) and if you go to this link www.woodworking.com/dcforum/dcboard.pl?az=read_count&om=903&forum=DCForumID19it will take you to a tutorial I did at the other forum on making the box-jointed, ogee, bracket feet that I use on the chests. There are also a couple of joinery comments on assembling the case, too. A blanket chest is a great beginning project. It's not extremely difficult but they look great and are highly functional. Everybody loves them.

Thank you everyone! Can't believe the amount of truely great information here...can you imagine what'll be like when there is 50,000 members?
Cody, got the e-mail and read the entire tutorial...WOW! Do you still have the chest, or was it a piece for someone?
Scott (might scale down some for the first try) B

There is a lot of effort put into making those tutorials, and a lot of value into using them. Never know when something like ww.com will be totally gone forever. For my personal use - I hope you don't mind - I have grabbed that tutorial and converted it to a word document. I hope you don't mind, but I grabbed a couple more - Garden Table, and Garden Chair. They are only there for a limited time - then gonzo. With your permission - I will send it out on request.

Scott,
I sold that particular chest to a gentleman in Houston.
Leo,
Yeah, I remember you telling me to save a copy of that tutorial.
I'm honored that you took the time to save it as a Word document. By all means send it out anytime you think it will be of help to someone. That's what this place is all about.

If you want - I will mail then on a CD for ya.

Thanks, but no thanks. I've got too many files to keep up with as it is. It's enough for me just knowing you thought enough about the stuff to save it. Perhaps I'll leave some sort of legacy behind after all.

You and I are about the same age (1954). I DON'T want to be the one left here posting about all your tutorials.
