Colonial Cracker Barrel

Wondering if anybody ever see or made a box called a Colonial Cracker Barrel?? I found it in a Handyman Encyclopedia from the 60's. Its only a 2 pager w/layout & descript. Its something like a highboy w/o the top half to it. I got this thick book from my Dad.
Its a todo piece during my (ahem) retirement somewhere in the future I'm kinda hopin to get orders for them by then.

While I'm at it, has anybody out there HAVE any of those Handyman Ency's??? I seen them on Ebay for $10.00!!

Back when me, my dad & bro build a couple of kitchen snackbars from this book!!

I think it'll be an interesting piece to build!!

I have this set from the 60's. The Practical handyman's encyclopedia Vol's 1-18. Lots of interesting things in it including how to build a backyard bomb shelter.

That sounds a bit silly now but at the time, it was a serious matter. We were convinced that a nuclear exchange with the Soviets was a probability.

Now, even as a kid, I did question the effectiveness of hunkering underneath our school desks in the event of a nuclear attack. We used to practice that drill all the time.

I can vividly remember all the female teachers crying at school during the Cuban missile crisis. They were convinced that we were about to be annihilated.

I know it was a serious concern, but do you think a backyard bomb shelter would do squat for you? Being close enough, yet far away enough, for it to protect you from the blast, the radiation would kill ya. Personally, I would go for the quick death.

Nah, they wouldn't have done any good. I always said that in the event of a nuclear attack, I wanted to be at ground zero and be vaporized instantly.
