Hey guys - I tried the One Step Plastic Polish from PSI the other day (Woodturningz carries it too) and I have to say....that stuff really does work.
I was making a Camo cigar pen (I'll post pics later) and sanded through 600 grit, though it only says 400 is needed. I put on one coat on one barrel, and two coats on the other. It got as good or better results than going through the 9 step micro mesh pads. I think any blemishes, I call them blemishes because they aren't scratches, but not quite 100% glassy either, are due to not sanding well enough on grits prior to the polish....
This stuff really works - not sure how many pens you can get from one bottle - but for 12 bucks, it's definitely worth trying ESPECIALLY if you like to do a lot of acrylics and plastics.
Oh - question - anyone ever try using it on a CA finish? I think it should work, however I haven't tried it yet - kinda pressed for time lately, don't really have time to be "testing" things in the shop. Maybe in a month or so.

I've used Mother's and MacGuire's Plastic Polish, you know the automotive stuff, and it works very well on acrylic. Like you, I wet sanded through 800grit(don't have any 600), and applied the polish. Worked like you say, but I still like the MircoMesh too! No dull spots, no visible swirls or scratches....unless you get the 20x magnifying loop out(even then they are so faint, it's hard to see them!
One Step Plastic Polish is $12.00......how many ounces in the bottle?
Both about mentioned bottles are less then $9.00 for 16ozs.
Scott (think they are the same thing?) B

I just sand to 400, buff with super fine steel wool and polish with Huts Super Gloss to get a mirror finish.

Is HUT's Super Gloss just another version of the One Step plastic polish?
And Les, are you talking about plastic blanks - or regular wood blanks with a poly finish?
I'm asking specifically about using a plastic polish on a CA finish.
Scott - not sure how much is in the bottle (it's in the shop right now) - you can view it at PSI. I guess one would have to try both polishes to see which is better, if there is a difference. Zac
