These are easier to make than a pen.I have made a goodly number of them and gave them away to friends and family.They make great gifts and probably would sell real well in the fall. I always made the appliance pedestal a little taller & did not leave as much bark and turned a thinner wall.. It's time to start stock piling now. dick

Dick that is a good idea. I remember my grandma had one of those when I was a kid. Can you still find the nut cracker tools?

I have been wanting to make a large pine bowl with the bark still on it. Very similar to what you did here. Only bigger and a little taller. Had a hard time finding a blank big enough with the bark on it. Would love to get something from a sawmill but there is not any in my area.

great idea dick, You would not happen to have a few more pics closer up do you? curious to see how you have the tools mounted. Oh and for the record I am already in the planing stages for christmas gifts for family and the kind that people pay ya for.

No, no more pics but it is just an integral pedestal of the shape and height you desire.I drill holes in the top of the pedestal with a brad point bit,One large for the cracker tool and two smaller ones for the pickers.
