After making the stools seats, I had some small pieces of Walnut left over and some time before the next commissioned box was to be started. I started making these for something to do in the shop. I started making five, four made it to the adding of the lid lip and then I ran out of Walnut. Last one will be finished someday. Had a bit of a problem at first with the cutting the lid lips at 45* with the small miter box. Learned how to do it but the installed one are not a perfect fit at the corner miter. Official Description: These boxes are made from Walnut with Maple crotch top and bottom panels. The dimensions are approx. 6" x 3" x 1.625" tall. The inside depth is .875". They are finished with a coat of drying oil and buffed with a coat of Canuba wax. All three are available for purchase. $20 each

Cool boxes, Gecko! I thought they were much larger until I read the dimensions. They are very well proportioned.
That crotch Maple for the lids is killer.

Only 0.875" inside depth? Does it have som kind of 'false bottom' for hiding stuff? They just look so much thicker....wierd.
The wood selection goes very well with one another, and the finish looks great!

Hey, Gecko The boxes look like they are finger jointed, not keyed. So how did you miter the lid? And how did you measure for it? And, of course have a dozen other questions but out of place here. I'm so jealous!!!!!! Congrats on your craftsmanship and eye!.

You're a Tweedy. Thanks! Maybe one day... Posted another question on that incredible 4 corner matched box in your other thread. It's way over my head!
