Just a simple table but I like it. I made it a little taller than regular coffee table as it will have a laptop on it most of the time.

Fred, VERY nice! It looked taller than "normal" and I like it. Being a tall guy - things rarely fit me the way they would fit a normal height person.
Question - are those bottom slats notched and then fit over the bottom apron? Like a dado fit? Clever idea!

Zac thanks, I notched the cross piece about 3/8". easier to get them to fit.

That's very good work, Fred. I like the clean lines and uncluttered look of it. Notching the bottom slats to fit over the stretchers was a nice touch and like you said, made keeping the ends even a snap.

Don't underestimate the challenge of clean, simple, straight lines in a piece. I find they require a higher attention to the natural details of the wood. Plus there is actual zero space for a big "OOPS" since there are no detailed shapings/moldings to hide them. A natural finish also raises the bar in that poor joinery and wads of filler stick out like a sore thumb.

I appreciate everyones comments. The most time consuming, other than finishing was making the legs. Each leg is made up of four pieces. Thanks for helping me get them glued up. I thought about turning the legs but I'm not a big fan of turned legs. The finish is wipe on poly, clear satin.

That's a very nicely executed practical piece Fred.
Would you choose to make a set of legs that way again? I have been tempted to try, knowing that is how Stickley & Co. got QS white oak figure on all sides of their Craftsman furniture.

The joints aren't visible unless you know they are there and look real close. Those legs have a slight taper on the two inside sides. I never made any great effort to match the grain. Fred

Me too on my end tables! Works fantastic My coffee table will be a different story, tho. No apron around the top - i'll have to think on that one a little more - i can prolly pocket hole one side without much issue - but the legs need attachin' somehow, too.
