I just bought a set of These. I got them on Saturday. I'm sending them back today. I used them on one pen blank, and the tip on the gouge looks like Godzilla took a bit out of it. POS in every manner. Save your money.

CARBIDE-tipped! I wondered when carbide would get tried for woodturning tools. Since quite a lot of folks like to reshape their tools, and carbide needs either diamond or silicon-carbide (green) wheels to resharpen (and they need to be SHARP SHARP), I can't seen any great future in 'em.

Tim, you pretty much know me as a no BS kind of guy. That said, these tools are garbage, literally. I use them on one pen blank last night, and the daggone tip practically came off in my hands. It looks like a photo of a mountain range. Big, nasty chunks taken out of it. I'm shocked to see they released these to the public, knowing what a POS they really are.
^^^^^ <-----That's what it looks like. After only one pen blank.

Carbide tips have been used for years on hollowing tools although they are adjustable/removable and not integral to the tool body. I sharpen/shape mine with the Jet wet grinder and use a diamond hone between sharpenings.
Benjamin's Best turning tools have a history of inconsistent quality. It's sort of a crap shoot whether you get a quality tool or a POS. The good ones are quite good, especially for the price. The others, well, you see how they are...
