Cool link....but I don't think I can talk the wife into any of those. Believe the drivers alone would be quite expensive, not to mention the crossovers and multiple ampilifiers to run that stack! Probably need to have the house re-wired to supply enough current to fire up the amps.....wonder how many windmills and solar panels I'd need in the yard? **************************************************** Ball dimensions:(((2-1/16(2.0625) minus 1-6/16(1.375) where every 1/16" = 1/4"))) *** The nearest I can calculate the circular dimension is 9-3/4"(from front to back) *** The total ball diameter would be 12-3/4" **** It will require 13pcs of 3/4 inch MDF **** The face where the speaker is mounted on the ball measures 8-1/4" Specs on the driver(or at least the most recent driver available: a) overall diameter 128mm / 5.10" b) hole diameter 102mm / 4.10" c) depth for hole 65mm / 2.60" The horn dimensions... If the front of the horn is sitting on 8.0"x8.0"x2" cement blocks then the following information would be close? (maybe) *** The cabinet should be 4' tall x 1' 6" deep x 9-3/4" wide ****Each cabinet will require 4 and 1/2 sheets to complete(or 9 sheets for a pair of cabinets) Additional notes: The ball that holds the actual speaker can be made from the scraps left-over during the construction of the cabinets!! So all-in-all it isn't as much scrap as I thought! And I could always save the scrap as 'waste blocks' for later projects on the lathe..... Scott (saved some money there.....whew!) B

After looking at those, it looks like you're going to SAVE yourself AT LEAST $100,000 by making it yourself... maybe more! ;D ;D It will be interesting to see how it works out!

Well, not quite $100,000.00, but close! Not including labor and electricity I figure about $99.746.41 savings!!
That will be another great thing to tell the wife. She's gonna 'cut-me-off' on the 'kitchen pass' thing. Not that I have the back for it anymore.........
3/4" x 49" x 97" is going for $25.79/sheet for 'normal' folks, but I can get it for cost + 20% and then the 8.5% tax that my state loves to collect......
Scott (I'll try the cost saving thing on her later... ;D...) B
