Still building up my inventory of bottle stoppers. Pine cone, Black and White Ebony, and Blister Maple. The Blister Maple is from a stopper blank that Zac sent me. Thanks Zac! That is some beautiful wood! I used CA finish on the pine cone and the Blister Maple, but the Black and White Ebony is Lacquer dipped. Pine Cone - shaped like a Christmas light bulb Black and White Ebony Blister Maple from Zac

I like 'em all, Doug.
Especially that pine cone...I can't get over what you do with pine cones. Is that some solid wood in there, too?
The burn lines sure adds a little something to the others.
I gotta stop coming up here, I caught myself looking at lathes in a catalog the other day.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Dave, that is Bloodwood and Walnut pieces on the Pine Cone stopper. I like to add up to 3 different colors with the cones with Bloodwood and Walnut almost always used and sometimes I'll add in a lighter colored wood too. The cones are pretty soft on the pointy end and need some hardwood to help hold them together if that end of the cone is where the stopper hardware is going to screw in. This particular style does not need the hardwood pieces, but I still like to use it for accent.
Nibble, nibble, nibble...Dave, we are going to have to set the hook on you pretty soon ;D I have to say that the lathe is by far the most fun tool you can own.

Doug - goes without saying - awesome work. Dave, man - you are going to be so pissed and happy with us at the same time when you end up buying a lathe!! It's a ton of fun and you will wonder NOT - why they call it the vortex! Zac
