Well got my chiro's picture frame finished, picture and glass installed. Haven't gotten it back to him, Monday. Decided to charge $240 for it. Guess I'll find out the reaction Monday. I do think it turned out well and really works with the photo he had. What do you think, worth $240? ( I have my doubts but I did tell him when he asked me to do this that it would be expensive.) Thanks ~Mike

Mike you have no reason to feel guilty about the price. I think he will be happy at that price. Very attractive.

Mike,
Real wood, made by request with equipment and skills that were not learned overnight, shouldn't be debateable for your asking price. Go for it.

I had a problem charging my worth for many years. As such, we would do well to consider the following:
1) Take the time to see what is charged for mass produced stuff, then remember that one of a kind always costs more. 2) We have tools, equipment, materials and shop expenses. 3) If we hurt ourselves running dangerous equipment for someone else, its out of our pocket. 4) While we were spending our nickels on a new Fein tool or Festool jig saw, Powermatic band saw and so on, the other guy was buying ski's, tricking out his car, camper or home, or otherwise tending his own interests. My use of those things for him is worth something. 5) The people we do things for work for someone else and wouldn't work for free. Add to that, they, in most instances, do not have to provide their own work area, tools or anything else. They just have to show up. For that, they make some significant money. After you deduct the costs noted above, take out a little more for knowledge, then tack on a small profit, you probably aren't making much more than he does.

He's getting a bargain for only $240, Mike. That frame is absolutely impressive and with that picture, it's priceless.
You are just a skilled guy. Thanks for showing.

I know your inhibition.
It is worth every penny you can get for it.
It is worth every penny someone is willing to pay for it.
I cannot say what it is worth - cause I cannot afford such a thing as that. So to me - no - its not worth it, but to someone that can afford it - and is willing to pay for it - yes - it is worth it.
I will say though - it IS truly beautiful.

Very nice frame, Mike. I bet he won't think it is too much if he compares it to what a frame shop would charge to frame it for him and that is without a custom carving.

After gluing an Apostrophe after the "Y", you could maybe work out a mold for it, manufacture them, and get the price down so just about everyone could afford it? ;D ;D It IS very nice... Good job, as usual, Mike. ;D ;D
