Just playing around with a couple of pen blanks that I turned a long time ago and did not like them well enough to actually make a pen with them. They were just too plain looking. So I thought I would try to give them a little color with some Analine dye. I was trying for a red, white, and blue patriotic motif. I did the artwork on the Cigar pen and LOML did the artwork on the slimline pen. I think hers came out much better than mine...shoulda let her do them both Here is the slimline with black chrome plating. and the other side looks like this Here is the Cigar in a copper plating. and the other side looks like this

There is a spray paint....name is escaping me at the moment! Crap...what is that stuff? Anyway, some guys use it to 'spider-web' gunstocks....it come's in most colors, but most use the silver or white. That stuff would look really good on top of the cigar pen!
And your correct, from now on you should let her do the rest. I like the slimline! Not too much, not too little, just right!

hmmm.....well...... that's very "artsy" of you, Doug! Not my kind of thing, but the pens are nice looking regardless! (lol at Boodrow's left handed cig comment!) Zac

Thanks guys. Yeah these are not my cup of tea either - I prefer the look of natural wood, but I'm thinking there just might be someone who will be attracted to them at the craft shows.
Scott, if you remember what that paint stuff is called, let me know, that sounds interesting. I know the cigar needs something more, and that might just be the ticket.

There goes about 20 mintues of looking around the 'net! Here's the stuff: krylon.com/products/webbing_spray/You need to spray it on cardboard first to get an idea of what it'll do as it 'sprays' from the can. I've seen this stuff in HobbyLobby here locally...never checked the price though. Scott (looks cool on gun stocks) B

Thanks for looking that up for me Scott. I'll look for some next time I'm at Hobby Lobby.

Both got looks today at the Farmers Market, but neither sold. Wife's is definitely the best looking one, but a couple guys looked at the Cigar too - but the most interested guy just liked the copper plating.
I really like having the wife's artwork pen on display - it really is eye catching.
