Here's the thought. After you drill the hole (or before, if you like), chuck up a large Forstner bit. Use it to true up the top surface of the blank. Now the top surface is guaranteed to be true to the hole. Genius always seems simple after it is presented. That should be a quick, simple, sure-fire solution. You da man, Tim.

Tim good one , never thought bout that. Zac one thing thats allready been mentioned , be sure the tap is straight in the whole whilst twistin it. On occasion I do this same thang and it screws it up. I think it mostly happens if the nat lite has me a lil double visioned. Boodrow

One more thing that might work, and work well. When you vise up the blank to drill & tap... you don't have to stop there. It may or may not be square in the vise - doesn't matter... IF. Here's the thought. After you drill the hole (or before, if you like), chuck up a large Forstner bit. Use it to true up the top surface of the blank. Now the top surface is guaranteed to be true to the hole. Tim - that is a DAMN good idea...... just make sure the blank stays vised up as you change out bits. That is a REAL clever idea!! Zac

Boodrow - thanks for the reminder about the tap - yeah, I try to be real careful to make sure that it stays square to the hole. I'd imagine Nat Light would make near anyone green enough to the gills to have 'em seeing double... Zac
