Got some really cool lines running through that piece of wood!
What is the turn time on a piece like this?

that spalting is awesome. that beveled lip looks cool too. did you have to stabilize it or is it still pretty tough?

Nice - the spalting definitely makes it. I'm working a piece of non-spalted birch, and it's pretty boring.
Thanks, Mark

Wow, I agree with Mav. Fantastic spalting and that bevel edge is too cool!
Nice bowl Cody.

Nice looking bowl there, Cody.
All I can do is second what others have said.
When I make the leap into roundy things, bowls is what I want to learn first. (I think)

Thanks for the comments, guys.
Scott, Maverick
It took me about an hour to turn this bowl. It cut pretty easily but didn't need any stabilization. I did soak the tenon with thin CA before reverse mounting it, just in case.
Scott, I love that "little bit over exposed" insertion in your signature. All of your signature insertions are great.

Just curious....
Are you using a tripod? If so, may I suggest that you switch that Nikon D50 to Aperture Priorty and set the aperture to f/11 or even f/13. Let the shutter set itself. Manual focus on the center of the bowl, and then let the camera fire from a timer(2-second) setting. The smaller aperture setting will give you a lot more depth of field, and the timer setting will let the camera self-steady before taking the shot.
