No, I am not in the market for a TS. I just saw a 10" cabinet saw in the latest flier. It state that it has the "align-a-rip" fence, precision ground cast iron table with stress free saw arbor to reduce vibration, precision miter gauge with adjustable slide bar, triple V-belt drive system, and solid steel extension wings. That's the way they write it up. Now...
Does anyone have or know anyone with experience with this machine? I'll bet it comes from the same factory that cranks out Jet or Grizzly (purely speculation).
I'm not talking about HF in general. That has been debated to death. Some things are good, some things are crappy. So which category would this fall into?
Oh, and they want $749 for it.
Just curious.

I haven't seen the saw in person, but I did see the ad. Fo what it's worth, Grizzly was recently dumping some of their cabinet saws without riving knives for about that price ... not sure if they still have any. Could be a very similar saw.

Purely from the standpoint of the fence, the align-a-rip is not a bad fence. I have one; it is stout and accurate. Not a Bessy, but it is decent enough that I won't replace it.
Won't surprise me if they are ALL built in the same plant and just painted differently.

Won't surprise me if they are ALL built in the same plant and just painted differently. Many of them are but there is more than just one manufacturing plant in China. Even the ones built in the same plant often have different specs thus different prices. Mfg in China doesn't necessarily mean poor quality...it's determined more by the specifications they are given from the company that will market the product. However, I don't think I would buy a TS from Harbor Freight, no matter where it was built. FWIW, I think all of the left-tilt saws that Grizzly had marked down are gone...only some right-tilt versions are still available. Grizzly are dumping those saws without a riving knife because a riving knife is now required (2010) in order to be UL listed in the U.S.

As well, I believe that until the last couple of years, everything imported by Griz came from Taiwan, and most of their stuff is still made there. IMO, Taiwan usual quality is somewhat superior to that of mainland China.

My Griz band saw that I got last year was made in Tiawan.
HF - errr - China, made stuff, is and will continue to get better. As time marches on - they will continue to raise the bar on their quality - just like Japan did.
Don't be surprised if we start hearing that the HF cabinet saw, really ain't all that bad.
A $750 - it will need to deliver at least "some" level of quality. It is not something that a ham and egger is going to just walk out of the store with.
