So at least partly in trial of uploading images, I offer viewing of one of my most recent bowls. So, here goes ..... Garry Oak, which is our native oak in the Pacific Northwest. This was turned complete while the wood was still "green". Other attempts with this wood, when turned in stages over multiple sessions, caused the wood to crack irregardless of what I did to prevent it. It just moves alot, and seems to be best to get it as thin as possible as fast as possible, then let it move. The notch out of the rim, is where the heartwood of the log seperated from the rest, while turning, due to the cracking. By the time Id finished, it had warped to oval, and would not sit flat. Solved that by carving the base rim into three feet. That was a first for me as well. So, did the pictures work? Nope, try again, this time following TJs instructions verbatim rather than from memory .... Any comments welcome. Thanks, Mark

Man, that sucker really moved didn't it?
I like it. It gives it a whimsical look and i'll bet it looks even better after you carved the individual feet into the base.
Thanks for showing and keep 'em coming.

the grain pattern is very neat. I even like when they oval out. to me it makes it look like a piece of art. good job on saving it.
